Missing woman found in shallow grave near Ladysmith
A case of murder is being investigated after the body of a woman reported missing was this week found in a shallow grave in Besters near Ladysmith.
Thokozile Makhowane (34) had last been seen after leaving her home with her boyfriend last month.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says a 44-year-old man was later arrested.
But due to insufficient evidence he was released.
"On Monday night a group of people confronted the man at his residence and demanded answers about the whereabouts of the woman.
"He eventually led the community to Bramhoea where the semi-decomposed body of the deceased was found in a shallow grave.
"Before the arrival of the police the suspect was severely assaulted by the community and was rescued by the police.
"He sustained multiple wounds and succumbed to his injuries while being transported to hospital."
