The decomposing body of a woman has been found at the Oakford Priory in Verulam, north of Durban. She had been reported missing a week ago.
Police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says the woman was last seen leaving her home in the area last Thursday with her 35-year-old boyfriend.
Zwane says it's believed he took his own life a few days ago.
"He had a gunshot wound to his head and the firearm was also recovered from him. It's suspected that he killed himself. Therefore, a case of inquest was opened at Verulam police station for further investigation.
"Today, after a thorough investigation - the body of a woman who was last seen with this boyfriend was found. It is suspected the boyfriend shot and killed her," he said.
The discovery of the woman's body was made by Dante the dog from the Durban K9 Unit.
Dante is the same dog that recently found a toddler in Lindelani who survived three days in a bushy trench after disappearing from his home.
