Missing Kliprivier tiger briefly returns home
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Members of the Walkerville community policing forum in Johannesburg have confirmed that the missing tiger returned home for a brief period in the early hours of Tuesday morning
Sheba escaped from her enclosure at Walker’s Fruit Farm, south of Johannesburg at the weekend, and was spotted via drone thermal imaging at a waterhole in the area.
"No, she hasn't come back but she did return at 4am this morning, but they weren't in time to close the gate behind her, there was no one around to close the gate and close her in. Then she managed to leave and escape again,” says the policing forum’s Gresham Mandy.
The female tiger earlier attacked a man and killed two animals.
Mandy has pleaded with community members to raise the alarm if she is spotted roaming the area.
"Please stay away from her, she is not a trained domestic cat, she is a wild animal, she will attack, and she will kill if she has too. Rather call in to 10 111 or the Gauteng nature conservation on 011 240 2500 or the NSPCA whose numbers are available, but it must be credible information."
