Ramaphosa announces Cabinet reshuffle, ministry merges
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced the merger of the Telecommunication and Postal Services Department and the Communications Department.
The President says the merging of these departments is in keeping with his announcement at the State of the Nation address, that they're looking to re-align government and that the move will ensure better co-ordination of matters critical to the economy - particularly in the fourth industrial revolution.
"The merging of communications, and telecommunications and postal services - is the first wave. It is also to help with the realigning process which we need right now in order to put into effect the transformation that we are effecting with regard to the economic management."
He made the announcement - along with that of a cabinet reshuffle.
"The Minister of Home Affairs will now be Dr. Siyabonga Cwele, Minister of Environmental Affairs will now be Miss Nomvual Mokonyane, Minister of Communications will be Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams."
