The Inter-Ministerial Committee gave feedback on Monday on the outcomes of meetings with the freight logistics and trucking companies.

The talks follow last week's truck protests on the N3, including at Van Reenen's Pass, over the employment of foreign nationals and fuel price hike.

"The plan includes the appointment of the task team, integrated and multi-disciplinary joint law enforcement, review of the Cross-Border Road Transport Legislation and Review of the Traffic Register Number."

"As the Minister of Transport and my colleagues, we appreciate all efforts and commitments that all stakeholders have shown towards the draft of this implementation plan. This implementation plan is very important."

Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi says they've come up with several interventions, including enforcement drives.

"These multi-disciplinary and joint enforcement operations conducted across the country saw 213 arrests of the foreign truck drivers found to be in contravention of the immigration laws, with 19 of those in possession of fraudulent documents."
