Minister officially opens Umgeni Interchange
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Minister of Transport Dipuo Peters will officially open the Umgeni Road Interchange in Durban this morning.
The official opening forms part of the National Transport Month campaign.
KwaZulu-Natal Transport's Kwanele Ncalane says the multi-million rand project has helped bring much relief to the stretch of road when it comes to traffic congestion.
Some lanes of the interchange, linking the N2 freeway and M19 were opened in June.
Ncalane says the project is something Durban motorists can be proud of.
''It is indeed a state of the art Interchange which characterises the modern work of government in terms of transport infrastructure, improving and developing our infrastructure to stimulate and drive economic growth and ensure that we build world class cities as a country,'' he said.
An engagement session with communities living near the interchange is expected to take place after the ceremony.
