Hendriques said based on the evidence presented  she was of the view that the probabilities were overwhelming in favour of the State's case against Ebrahim.

The judge said it was more so, due to Ebrahim electing to remain silent.

She found there was no evidence to support the defence's claim that Miguel’s mother, Raylene Louw's involvement in drugs played a part in the child’s death.

Reacting to the conviction Miguel's aunt, Tasnim Dos Santos said it had been a long two years.

"We are just so happy that we finally got, well justice has basically has been served. It's a bittersweet feeling because we never going to have closure and have our baby back."

Sentencing proceedings are set to begin on Wednesday.
