Miguel Louw's family pleased after his alleged killer's denied bail
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
Miguel Louw's family has welcomed the Durban Regional Court's decision to refuse bail for the man accused of murdering the 10-year-old Sydenham schoolboy.
Magistrate Sifiso Luthuli on Friday found that there were no exceptional circumstances permitting Mohammed Ebrahim's release on bail and that this wouldn't be in the interests of justice, as the Phoenix-based butcher was a flight risk and would likely interfere with State witnesses and disturb the public peace.

Miguel's father, Kirk Louw, has become a familiar face in the court gallery during Ebrahim's appearances and was visibly pleased when the magistrate made his ruling.
"I'm just very happy that he's behind bars through the Christmas season and I'm very grateful to the magistrate and to the prosecutor and the detective who're handling the case," he says.
Miguel's aunt, Tasnim Dos Santos, also had nothing but praise for the police and the NPA in their handling of the case.
"We are very happy and we're glad that our investigating officer and the State had a strong case and they worked exceptionally hard," she says, "We just pray that the trial and sentencing can happen fast".
