Midlands elderly couple attacked in home invasion
An elderly woman’s in a critical condition after she and her husband were attacked during a house robbery in the rural Karkloof area.
It's understood the pair aged 82 and 84 were woken up by a man armed with a steel rake at around 4 in the morning yesterday. The home invader assaulted the couple and demanded cash.
A 30-year-old man has since been arrested on charges of attempted house robbery and grievous bodily harm.
The DA’s Chris Pappas in KZN says it will continue to drive rural safety issues.
"The DA in KZN is shocked to hear about the brutal attack on the elderly couple", he said.
"We urge the Premier to implement the steps we have submitted to him to reduce crimes against farmers and rural communities in KZN", Pappas said.
