MH370: Australian Transport Safety Bureau to examine debris
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau, responsible for the search of Flight MH370, says every piece collected is important in solving the mystery of the missing Boeing 777.
The Bureau's Joe Hattley has been speaking to Newswatch after 18-year-old Liam Lotter found a piece of debris while on holiday with his family in Mozambique in December.
It's thought the part could be from a Boeing 777.
Hattley, who's been in touch with the Lotter family from Wartburg, says it's expected to take several days for the South African Civil Aviation Authority to recover the part.
It'll then be transported to Malaysia before it is taken to Canberra where it will be examined along with another piece of debris recently found on the Mozambican coast.

Hattley says they are very interested in the object and will be looking at a number of things.
"We certainly would like to examine it in detail to determine if it's part of the MH370. We will look at things like - to try and determine where the parts came from - the construction of them, do they match the manufacturer's drawings and specifications?
"We'll check paint samples to see if it matches Malaysian plane samples. We will also be looking at part numbers and serial numbers - any reference numbers that are on there that will link it to an aircraft. Do they belong to a Boeing 777? Are there any markings identifying features that we can link them to MH370?," he said.
