Metro restricts beachfront road access for festive season
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Durban Metro Police have announced restrictions on some inner-city roads to the beachfront barring access for minibus taxis, buses, and heavy-duty vehicles

Spokesperson Boysie Zungu says it's part of efforts to manage the flow of traffic over the busy festive period.
Monty Naicker Road on Durban's South Beach and Sylvester Ntuli Road are two of the affected routes with boom gates set up to control access to the beachfront.
Zungu says they're beefing up security ahead of an influx of holidaymakers to the city.
"They are being managed police men, but it is not closed, only small vehicles are allowed no small vehicles are allowed."
"The boom gate is not closed, its only public transport that is not allowed."
