Metro cop shot, critically wounded in KwaDabeka
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
A Metro police officer is receiving treatment in hospital after being shot in what is thought to have been an attempted hijacking in KwaDabeka outside Pinetown last night.
The 50-year-old officer was off-duty when the incident happened.
Netcare911's Chris Botha says the man is in a critical condition.
''When we arrived we found a man in a very critical condition. Paramedics stabilized him and they transported him to a specialized hospital in Durban where he is receiving further care,'' he said.
Botha says no one else was hurt in the shooting.
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder. No arrests have been made.
The attempted hijacking follows a separate incident in which a Metro Police officer was shot during an armed robbery at his Seaview home, south of Durban last week.
