Meeting to bring about stability to take place in Inchanga

The ANC and SACP have scheduled joint meetings to restore peace and stability to Inchanga.

Earlier this week, another three people were killed in the area. The murders of brothers, Ndumisa and Thobani Shozi of the ANC and Lungisani Mchunu of the SACP are believed to be politically-motivated.

Prior to the municipal elections, tensions were high in Inchanga following the murders of several people who belong to the two alliance partners.

The acting ANC spokesperson Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu says the recent killings are a setback.

"We are not going to sit back. We do have programmes and they will be starting as the week unfolds so that we are able to engage with the people and find out what is happening. Both organisations will continue to work hard to ensure that we return stability," she said.

The SACP's Nomvuzo Shabalala says they have lost two of their members in recent days.

"Since we have started negotiations it has been calmer in the area. However, it does look like there are those who want this violence to continue because may they benefit somehow," she said.

The Shozi brothers were laid to rest yesterday while the funeral of the two SACP members will be at Nondlini Sports and Community Centre tomorrow.
