Medical students in Cuba urged to focus on studies
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The KZN Department of Health says it's concerned about the number of students who've left their studies in Cuba to pursue religious activities.

MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo says during these sessions, the students stop everything to the extent that they do not participate in studies or general meetings.
Many of the medical students who are on bursaries from the department are not attending class and are on the verge of failing.
Dhlomo is heading to Cuba to plead with the students to focus on their degrees.
"Therefore, they should concentrate on their studies and return to South Africa as medical doctors. If there are a few of them who would want to change their careers to train as pastors, evangelists or preachers then they will have to come back and look for funding to help them pursue those programmes," he said.
