SA Medical Association warns against hubbly bubbly, vaping

The government is being urged to regulate the usage of hubbly bubbly and vaping products amid health concerns.

Dr Angelique Coetzee, who is with the South African Medical Association, says hooka pipes are equally as harmful to one's health as cigarettes.
She says those who are around smokers of such products are also at risk of inhaling double the toxins.
Dr Coetzee says they are just as toxic and addictive as cigarettes.

"Both the hooka and the cigarette smoke contain carbon, and carbon monoxide is deadly, also found in motor car exhaust. Even if it’s small amounts, that lair that you get into hooker, that lair can make children hyperactive.
"Carbon monoxide will affect your lungs; the smoke inhaled during such a hooker session is around about 90 litres, which is about 500 ml when smoking a cigarette in a period of five to seven minutes."
