The funeral of the wife of KZN Community Safety MEC, Willies Mchunu, is taking place today.

Dudu Mchunu died on Saturday after a long illness. She will be laid to rest today at the Chesterville Cemetery. The ANC's national chairperson Baleka Mbete will deliver the eulogy. ANC provincial spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli says Mchunu was a leader in her own right.
He says she displayed this when she challenged apartheid Minister of Law and Order, Adrian Vlok, in court to have her husband, who was arrested under the state of emergency released.
"We had hoped that she was going to recover. However we have accepted that the time has come for her to depart," he said.
"We send our deepest condolences to the family and we let them know that we are with them during this difficult moment," Ntuli said.
