KZN Transport MEC Siboniso Duma says a two-year tussle over taxi routes in the province will be resolved.
A meeting will be held on Thursday between the department, taxi council, SANTACO and law enforcement officials.
This morning in Empangeni, the R34 near the Empangeni Mill was blocked on both sides using minibus taxis and trucks.
Yesterday, there was another blockade by taxi operators on the R66 in Mayiwane in Ulundi.
The MEC's spokesperson, Ndabezinhle Sibiya.
"The MEC has appreciated consistent and bold leadership displayed by SANTACO regarding the management of a dispute over the Nkonjeni Route and illegal taxi operations in the region.
The department’s interventions and enforcement of the law will be intensified to ensure stability."
