MEC stunned by family living in Westville thicket for 3 years

The KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC has expressed shock following the discovery of a woman living in a dense bush with some children who have never been to school.
The family of seven have been living in a semi-forest behind a Westville garage, West of Durban for the past three years.
On Friday, MEC Kwazi Mshengu visited the family where he found that three of the six children who should be attending school are not.
Mshengu says interventions to get these children aged 4, 10 and 17 to start school next year are being made.
"There are two young ladies, both of them have never been in school, but we do have remedial classes in some parts of our schools in the province, and that's where we are going to send them."
"They will be properly assessed to determine their state of readiness in relation to the Grades that we offer in our schools and once that assessment is done then they will be placed accordingly, and there will be remedial programmes that they will be put through," he said.
