Spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela has urged communities, especially in rural areas, to avoid open fields when a storm is approaching.
"But she (the MEC) has also warned sternly the people of KwaZulu-Natal that we are in the middle of the summer season as a result we going to experience quiet a number of dangerous thunderstorms," he said.
