MEC to meet families of those killed by lightning

The MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nomusa Dube is this afternoon visiting the families of the three people who died during a lightning strike at KwaMachi near Harding on Saturday.
A group of Shembe Nazareth Church members had been worshipping near a tree when the incident happened.
More than 50 other people were hurt.
Spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela has urged communities, especially in rural areas, to avoid open fields when a storm is approaching.
"But she (the MEC) has also warned sternly the people of KwaZulu-Natal that we are in the middle of the summer season as a result we going to experience quiet a number of dangerous thunderstorms," he said.
Meanwhile, a 28-year-old woman from Ndwedwe in the Ilembe District also died after her house was struck by lightning.
The department says Disaster Management Teams remain on alert.
