MEC to hand over R500m water project in KZN
Updated | By Mamelisa Ngcongo
Water supply challenges will soon be a thing of the past for thousands of residents in and around Mandeni in northern KZN, according to the Department of Cooperative Governance in KZN.
The department is preparing to hand over the Macambini Water Scheme to iLembe officials.
Cogta's Sboniso Duma says water pipes in the district were washed away when infrastructure was damaged during the disastrous floods in April 2022.
"This water scheme, which was recently completed by the department to the tune of R500 million, will supply clean water to thousands of families in the Emacambini and surrounding areas.

“With March being declared as National Water Month, MEC Sithole-Moloi will mark the occasion by launching this critical scheme, which will bring much-needed relief to many families."
MEC Sithole Moloi will also hand over the Mandeni Ward 13 Community Hall and the Sundumbili Swimming Pool at Tuesday's ceremony.
