MEC extends suspension of Ladysmith taxi operations
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Taxi operations in Ladysmith have been suspended for a further six months.

The decision has been taken by Transport MEC, Mxolisi Kaunda who says the two taxi associations that have been been at loggerheads over routes have not yet found common ground.
Kaunda temporarily shut down operations of Klipriver and Sizwe Taxi Associations in December following a spate of taxi-related violence in Ladysmith.

Transport's Mluleki Mthungwa says the department remains committed to finding a solution.
"Our doors will remain open. We encourage the Klipriver and Sizwe Taxi Association to continue with negotiations and ensure that the sooner they come back to us with an agreement - we can ensure that there's peace and stability in the taxi industry in Ladysmith," he said.
