MEC Duma unveils means to tackle floods eThekwini
Updated | By Lauren Hendricks
Human Settlements MEC Siboniso Duma has announced five key
resolutions to tackle flooding, land access, and rebuilding homes and roads in
KwaZulu-Natal.

Duma met with eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba, councillors, and traditional leaders over the weekend to discuss the province's responses to the recent floods.
Spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says they have committed to building homes for the affected victims in semi-urban areas and improving their response to future weather-related emergencies.
"In making the land available in semi-urban areas under Amakhosi to build homes for affected family members originally from urban areas, victims in semi-urban areas will not be relegated to the bottom of the agenda."

He says there will be ongoing coordination to ensure swift responses to floods and other disasters.
Sibiya adds that Amakhosi will receive regular updates on road projects including stalled, current, and upcoming ones - and that communities will be kept informed throughout.
