Mchunu welcomes construction of new Umhlanga hotel
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
KZN Premier Willies Mchunu says construction workers are the backbone of the economy.
He made the comment while speaking yesterday at the launch of the Oceans Umhlanga Hotel.
Mchunu applauded construction workers for creating the infrastructure necessary for industrial growth.
"With the globalization of the economy- it is the construction workers who are constructing the new economic zones - ICTCs - call centres and malls that are creating new forms of wealth today.
"It is through the construction and property development sectors that we have been able to create job opportunities," he said.
Mchunu welcomed the hotel project, saying he's happy to hear it will create around 2500 job opportunities.
