Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu says water boards embroiled in allegations of corruption will face legal action.
On Tuesday, he welcomed the newly-merged Umgeni-uThukela Water Board following a maladministration crisis and scandal that rocked the two entities in 2022.
Twelve new members are overseeing operations at the board that delivers water to KZN residents.

Mchunu says they cannot turn a blind eye to allegations of corruption.
"You are aware that recently, the president signed off an investigation by SIU regarding allegations of impropriety in Tshwane regarding Rooiwal because it involves huge amounts of money without any evidence of work having been done.
"You must also be aware that up in Limpopo, there is an ongoing court case with civil claims or follow-ups regarding the infamous Giyani Water Scheme and that involves about R2 billion."
