Mchunu says communities must pester govt for reliable water supply
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
The Water Minister says communities must keep putting pressure on the government to provide them with a reliable supply of water.
Senzo Mchunu was speaking in North West, where he has been visiting a bulk water supply scheme project ahead of the Presidential Imbizo in that province.
Parts of eThekwini have had water outages in recent weeks, with some residents' taps running dry for more than a week.
Mchunu says the government is working on permanent solutions to the erratic supply that many parts of South Africa are also having to contend with.

"We should put water in pipes. We should have a permanent and reliable supply of water. And that's what we are doing. That is what we are bringing mayors to, to reason with us."
"They won’t spend a lot of money on this, but on a temporary basis. So, people complain are right in complaining because they see the cases.
"You will find that a tanker will deliver every day in a particular house for a particular reason. I know I listen to people all over, so they are right."
