Mchunu: eThekwini water woes almost solved
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu has
promised that eThekwini's water woes will be a thing of the past by 15
February.
Mchunu made the promise to community members in Verulam, Phoenix and Tongaat.
Mchunu met with residents on Sunday to update them on the steps that have been taken to resolve their ongoing supply challenges.
The minister said he's very concerned about water wastage.

"eThekwini loses too much water, via non-revenue water, which includes water losses directly to the ground, and we cannot allow to go on like that without addressing that problem."
Mchunu said progress is being made in finding a long-term solution to the persistent water shortages in eThekwini.
"I'm happy, on the 31st January a resolution was passed by council of eThekwini that Umkomaas Dam project will go on. They are agreeing on the off-take that will guarantee, not only the supply, but sustainable raw water supply. That's what I've been worried about."
