The 91-year-old passed away at the weekend after suffering a long illness.

Inkosi Mchunu will be remembered as a peacemaker in what was once a violence ridden area.

King Goodwill Zwelithini's spokesperson Prince Mbonisi Zulu says Inkosi Mchunu's death has left a void in traditional leadership.

''The king has expressed deep sadness at the passing away of an old and experienced Inkosi who has served respectfully and has always been loyal to the monarch and the throne,'' he said.
