Mboweni to deliver mid-term budget speech
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni is putting his books in order ahead of his maiden speech in the role. Mboweni replaced Nhlanhla Nene as Finance Minister following the latter's resignation in the wake of his testimony at the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.
Mboweni will deliver his first Medium Term Budget since being tasked with controlling the country's purse.
He will make the speech in the National Assembly.
The medium-term budget speech will set out government's three-year financial plans and the economic context of the main Budget Speech in February.

South Africans will be hoping for some good news or relief - as consumers have had to endure several major punches in recent months including record fuel prices and an increase in VAT.
With the economy somewhat sluggish in comparison to global growth forecasts, Mboweni has the difficult task of bringing stability to Treasury and encouraging investment.
