Mbongeni Ngema lauded for outstanding work

The late South African playwright Mbongeni Ngema has been lauded for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry, especially in KZN.
The 68-year-old did in a car crash in the Eastern Cape Wednesday.
Ngema who was in born in Verulam, north of Durban received Tony Award nominations for his work in Asinamali and Sarafina.
He also received a Grammy Award nomination for his contributions to Sarafina.
Durban’s DJ Tira has been speaking about Ngema’s impact on his life.
"I worked with Mbongeni Ngema when I did a remix of one of his songs Durban Finest. We did a mix for 'Stimela Sase Zola', so he met us when we were upcoming artists, trying to break into the music industry."
"What he did for the culture at large from Sarafina, Afrosoul was also coming from his school. I have seen a lot of his work even the school that he developed in the early 2000s. His passing, we are very sad about it."
