Mbalula assures of adequate fuel supply at OR Tambo
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
Following fuel shortages caused by the recent KZN floods, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has moved to assure the aviation sector that it does not need to worry about future shortages at OR Tambo International Airport or any other airport in the country.
"We, therefore, wish to reassure the aviation sector that there is adequate fuel at OR Tambo International Airport and at all our national airports," says the department's spokesperson Lawrence Venkile.
"This challenge was a consequence of the floods in KwaZulu-Natal that affected transport infrastructure and disrupted supply chains."
Venkile says after their engagements with the Airports Company South Africa, the department put measures in place to tackle the jet fuel shortages.

It says the fuel supply to OR Tambo has been stabilised and operational.
In a statement, it says ACSA is working closely with oil suppliers to ensure there is adequate fuel stock at all times in a bid to avoid cancelling of flights.
