Mbabazane works to complete electricity project
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The Mayor of Mbabazane is appealing to the community of Ntabamhlophe to be patient while the local municipality works on resuming the area's electrification project.
On Monday, about 350 people protested in Estcourt where they are alleged to have blocked off a road near one of the area's schools with the burning tyres.
Mayor Phindile Strydom has explained that the project was halted after the contractor was apparently not paid what was agreed to by the municipality.
She says they are working on getting the project off the ground again.
"I'd like to urge the community to allow the meeting between us and them, and not disturb while the matrics are writing their exams. We know that Mbabazane Municipality matrics are one of the top students. So, we want to get the best results in 2016," she said.
