Matrics urged to register for supplementary exams
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The KZN Education Department says registration for supplementary exams is already open and will continue until January 20.
Some 63 897 pupils failed the 2015 National Senior Certificate exams in KZN.
HOD Nkosinathi Sishi says for those who qualify, the supplementary exams will take place from February 19 to the end of March.
"If you were to analyse the results, you will recognise that pupils might not have met the requirements but some of them have done very well in three, four or five subjects but they did not pass a number of subjects required for them to get a qualification.
"So they have an opportunity now to register for supplementary exams," he said.
MEC Peggy Nkonyeni has emphasised that there are other options for those who did not pass or do as well as they had hoped.
"Some of our learners seem to believe that once they have failed, they have reached the end of the road. All of us, as society, need to dismiss this misleading notion because it is not true," she said.
KZN achieved an overall pass rate of 60.7%.
