Matric 2018: Second time's the charm for Nongoma woman

Minenhle Khumalo, from Phumanyova High School, says those who failed in certain subjects shouldn't give up.

Khumalo decided to repeat Grade 11 and matriculated last year with five distinctions,

"It's just marks, it's not who you actually are. Even though they reflect your academic performance, they don't reflect who you are as a person. I think determination (is key), if you know what you want, you can sit down and relax and say 'I'm not going to settle for anything that is less than this' ".

With the pass rate at 76.2% in KZN, Education officials say there is hope and other options for those who were left disappointed.

If you want to submit a paper for remarking or if you would like to enrol in the government's Second Chance Matric Support Programme, you need to visit your local Education office before the end of the month.
