It's been a week since protests intensified following the killing of an SACP leader, Nontsikelelo Blose and the ANC's Xolani Ngcobo.

The latter was also shot and killed within hours of Blose's death.

The recent violence in Inchanga is thought to be the result of tensions between both parties in the area.

A mass peace prayer scheduled for this morning was postponed by the provincial Community Safety Department to allow for more talks to take place between the party leaders.

It was quiet with a number of police vans driving around - including some from the Metro Police Department.

Police officers from Pinetown, KwaDabeka, Plessislaer and Westville have been deployed to monitor the area. Emotions ran high on Sunday as SACP members, friends and family laid 40-year-old Blose to rest.

Today, some community members declined to be interviewed instead directing Newswatch to SACP and ANC leaders in the community.

Burnt tree logs, rocks and burnt tyres previously used to barricade roads after the violence broke out, are still visible along the roads.

Meanwhile, four suspects have appeared in the Camperdown Magistrate's Court yesterday and will apply for bail later this month.
