Pillay has joined dozens of people who are about embark on an anti-racism march in Scottburgh.

"A lot of work has been done over the last 21 years to set the foundations for a non-racial society. That's why [these incidents] are absolutely shocking. We've been quite clear that's it a handful of people but we must not allow to allow gain any currency or find any footing in society," he said.

"Visible public opposition is important because it brings awareness, it shows support in this case a support against racism. It shows that South Africans are united against racism. Majority of South Africans are opposed to racism," he said.
