Mashatile: ANC members on 'step-aside' must not accept nominations
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
The ANC's treasurer-general says the party's step-aside policy for members implicated in corruption may be changed from time to time.
Paul Mashatile made the comments during the media briefing on the outcomes of the national executive committee meeting held this past weekend.
Addressing questions on ANC members implicated in wrongdoing but still occupying positions - Mashatile said members who don't voluntarily step-aside will be suspended.
"When a member has stepped aside voluntarily, he or she should not make himself or herself available to be elected in positions and this could be in the BEC, LEC, PEC or even in the NEC.
"Now we have made it explicit that if you are on a step aside, you shouldn't accept nomination to any position."

Mashatile also dismissed reports that the party had completely disbanded its women's league.
He clarified that the terms of the women's league's NEC had expired.
"Their period of office is five years, but if you look at where we are they would have been in office for seven years. It would be unconstitutional and legally indefensible to have a structure that operates beyond its term of office.
"Therefore, a decision was taken that the NEC of the women's league be disbanded and be replaced with a task team. We are not disbanding the women's league; we are disbanding the NEC of the women's league."
