Masemola officially takes over SAPS at ceremony

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has officially taken over command of the South African Police Service.
Police Minister Bheki Cele handed over the Sword of Command to Masemola during a ceremonial parade in Pretoria on Friday.
"You are hereby charged to serve your country in this post with courage, dignity and honour,” Cele said.
"To discharge your duties and responsibilities with zeal and diligence and to set a good example to those placed under your command."

Masemola has vowed to serve the country with integrity and honesty.
"I solemnly undertake to serve my country with loyalty, courage, dignity and honour, to discharge my duties and responsibilities with zeal and diligence. I hereby formally take over the command of the South African Police Service."
Masemola was appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa in April this year.
He took over from Khehla Sitole whose contract was terminated.
