Marike de Klerk’s killer to be released on parole on Wednesday

The man who murdered former first lady Marike de Klerk is due to be released on parole on Wednesday.

Luyanda Mboniswa was 21 when he strangled and stabbed De Klerk at her beachfront flat in Cape Town's Table View in 2001.
Mboniswa worked as a security guard at the property.
His family has gathered at the St Albans Correctional Centre in Gqeberha.
Mboniswa has served 22 years of his life sentence.
His mom, sister and a few other family members were waiting for him to be released from prison.
Earlier on, his mother, Sindiswa, went into the building where Correctional Services assisted her, and she confirmed that her son’s name was on the list to be released.
