Margate man sentenced for sexually assaulting own daughter
A 40-year-old Margate man has begun serving a 10-year sentence after being convicted of sexually assaulting his 5-year-old daughter and using her to create child pornography.
The man was sentenced in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court this week. SAPS spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the man - arrested in 2016 - was found in possession of more than 200 images of child pornography.
"The man was convicted and sentenced to 5 years in prison for sexual assault on his 5-year-old daughter and another 5 years for child pornography", she said.
"He is to serve a sentence of 10 years behind bars", Gwala said.
