Mapisa-Nqakula in court to apply for bail
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
The corruption-accused former speaker of the National Assembly applied for bail in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula handed herself over to the police earlier in the morning.
She's accused of taking bribes from an army contractor when she was the defence minister.
Earlier this week, she lost a court bid to block her arrest.
Despite her attempt to avoid appearing in the dock, Nosiviwe Mapisa Nqakula insists the state case against her is weak and that she will prove her innocence with the right forums.

Mapisa-Nqakula has been accused of pocketing kickbacks of over R2 million in a statement by a Section 204 witness. In a Schedule 5 bail application, the onus is on the accused to satisfy the court that the interest of justice permits their release.
Mapisa-Nqakula's husband, former safety and security minister Charles Nqakula and former speaker Baleka Mbete are in court to support her.
