Manhunt for gang who gunned down cop at Pavilion

Police have launched a manhunt for an armed gang that gunned down a police officer outside the Pavilion shopping centre in Westville.
The KZN SAPS says this after the robbers held up staff and customers at two jewellery stores in the evening.
Spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says one of the criminals first entered a store posing as a customer and was soon followed by four others.

They overpowered staff and stole an undisclosed amount of jewellery.
"Simultaneously, that group of suspects stormed into a jewellery store and also robbed an undisclosed amount of gold jewellery.
"On their way out of the mall the suspects came across a police vehicle and started firing shots towards an officer who succumbed to gun shots injury.
"It was later established that suspects had robbed two security guards off their firearms. The suspects fled from the scene in two vehicles a bakkie and silver Toyota Etios."
