The Mangosuthu Highway in Umlazi, south of Durban has been cleared following protest action there earlier.
Metro Police spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersad says the situation in the area is calm at the moment and the road has been reopened.
He is also urging motorists to approach the area with caution as there is still some debris on the side of the road.
"Upon arrival, Metro Police members responded and there were protesters on EWP who weren't paid. About 60 of them had blocked the road. We are waiting for an official to address them from the municipality. They are off the roadway at V section at the moment," Sewpersad said.
