The marquees set up at the stadium in Ulundi were packed to capacity.

People clad in Inkatha Freedom Party regalia came from far and wide to remember the founder of the IFP.

The service was organised by the IFP to mostly give supporters an opportunity to bid farewell to the Traditional Prime Minister of the Zulu Monarch and Nation.

Some mourners told Newswatch they came from as far as Gauteng, where they continue to embrace their Zulu identity and traditions.

Amongst those in attendance are various royal household leaders, while on the political front, EFF MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi was amongst the most notable.

Once the family of Umtwana Kaphindangene arrived, led by son Uzuzifa, a frenzy irrupted as Amabutho immediately mobilised in recognition of Buthelezi’s royal lineage.

Messages of condolences have come as far as the Dalai Lama, who praised umtwana kaphinangene for his devotion to peace.
