Mandeni Municipality counting the cost of Isithebe protests
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
The Mandeni Municipality is counting the costs of a violent protest in the north coast town of Isithebe, where vehicles, factories and containers were torched bringing production to a halt.

Thousands took to the streets yesterday demanding an intervention from Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube.
The protests are believed to be over the Inkosi's appointment of a new Induna in the area and the selection of candidates for the upcoming Local Government Elections.
Mandeni Municipality Mayor Siphesihle Zulu says at this stage its difficult to put an amount to the damage caused as a result of yesterday's protests.
"Isithebe is feeding many of our families and it is our huge industrial area and economic hub of Mandeni.
"We cannot say at this moment how much production was stored in the warehouse at one of the factories," he said.
