Mandeni looks at fencing quarry after two children drown

Mandeni municipal officials are considering putting up a fence around a quarry where two children drowned during the week.
Seven-year-old Luyanda Mngomezulu and nine-year-old Smanga Sibiya are believed to have gone for a swim in the waterlogged Nyoni Quarry on Thursday.
Their bodies were found later that day.
Mayor Siphesihle Zulu says there was localised flooding in the town recently, due to heavy rains.
Fencing the area is one of the options we are going to look at,” he says.
He says local government had been in constant contact with the families of the children.
“From the day of the incident, we - along with the disaster management teams - have been meeting with the families to see what we can do to support them, during this grieving period,” Zulu says.
