Manamela checks on Durban Harbour's dry dock
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Buti Manamela, says 177 jobs have been created around the country's dry docks since the implementation of Operation Phakisa a year ago, with 86 of them at Durban Harbour's dry dock.

Manamela has been at the Port of Durban on a monitoring visit which is forms part of Public Service Month.
Durban Harbour is the busiest in Africa but its dry dock, used for ship repairs, has been out of action since July this year, losing the port some business.
The port's Infrastructure Manager, Hamilton Nxumalo, says they have had to halt operations due to a number problems.
"We need to repair some infrastructure that's been neglected over the years, like the wolf cranes, the gates and the rails for the cranes. Once we've got everything rehabilitated then it's going to be serviceable to all the port users and we'd know that when ships are brought here it's going to be safe," he said.
Manamela's visit forms part of Public Service Month.
