Chatsworth police have put a wanted murder suspect behind bars, after arresting him in possession of a stolen car and an unlicensed firearm.
The 45-year-old man was nabbed on Monday during an intelligence-driven operation in the Welbedacht West area.
The stolen vehicle was spotted in the vicinity when the police raided the man's house.
KZN police spokesperson, Jay Naicker says they seized a 38 revolver with five rounds of ammunition during the search.
"Police also seized the vehicle which he was travelling in as it was established that the vehicle was stolen at Inanda during November 2019."
"Further investigations revealed that the suspect was wanted for a murder and rape case reported in the Mariannhill policing precinct," he said.
Naicker says the suspect appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrates Court and that he was remanded into custody until 6 January.
