Man sentenced for murder of Inanda cop

A young man has been jailed for ten years for the murder of an off-duty police officer in Inanda.

Twenty-one-year-old Lindokuhle Buthelezi stabbed Constable Sizwe Mthethwa to death two years ago.
Its understood that Buthelezi stabbed Mthethwa to death on his way to Buthelezi's home.
He had wanted to meet with the young man's parents after he had a fight with the police officer's stepson.
KZN Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says Buthelezi attacked the constable before they arrived at his home.

"Two victims were also stabbed during the incident and were taken to hospital for medical attention. Buthelezi allegedly stole the deceased’s cell phones.
"A case of murder, attempted murder and theft was reported at Inanda police station, and the case docket was allocated to the Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation for intensive investigation.
"Buthelezi was arrested three days after the incident, and he appeared in court several times until he was found guilty in August this year."
Buthelezi was sentenced in the Ntuzuma Regional Court.
