Man sentenced to life for KwaMashu Hostel murder

A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison - for a 2017 murder at the KwaMashu Hostel, north of Durban.

The Verulam Regional Court sentenced Vusi Mhlongo to a life term for murder and five years imprisonment for attempted murder on Wednesday.
Police say he had been evading arrest for over a year when he was eventually apprehended.
It's believed Mhlongo, who fled the scene on foot, and two men had an argument at the hostel before he fired shots at the pair.
Mhlongo then fled the scene on foot.
22-year-old Sithembiso Maduna sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
