A young man who survived a near drowning at Port Edward is out of hospital.
It's understood the 20-year-old got into difficulty in the water at Glenmore Beach on Saturday.
Another 20-year-old and a 16-year-old are said to have launched into the surf with rescue buoys to help keep him afloat.
The National Sea Rescue Institute's Craig Lambinon says other locals were also involved in the rescue.

"Another local, a former lifeguard, also launched into the surf line to assist while they were gradually bringing the casualty towards the shore through the surf line, using the pink buoys to aid in their flotation.
"At least 50 bystanders, teenagers and adults, male and females, had formed a human chain from the beach into the water."
"As the three good Samaritan rescuers reached that human chain, the bystanders used that human chain to help get the casualties out of the water."
Lambinon says the young man was treated for non-fatal drowning symptoms.
